The panelists will assess the current state of the humanities computing job market in both the academy (including faculty as well as other kinds of academic positions) and in industry. Topics will include the relationship between the job market and the ways in which humanities computing as a specialization or field is being conceptualized and institutionalized; what kinds of jobs there are now and what kinds of jobs there are likely to be more of in the future; what applicants can do to make themselves marketable in humanities computing; and what hiring committees or companies can do to attract humanities degree-holders who have advanced skills in computing and digital media. Special attention will be given to the role that the ACH can play in preparing graduate students for industry and academic careers in humanities computing.
